Interim Communications Officer – Maternity Cover

Based County Durham

Salary up to £30,000 pro rata

and motivated Communications Officer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To support the ongoing development and delivery of the internal and external communications strategy.
  • To articulate the vision and the values of the business, delivering these messages via a full range of communication and engagement interventions, including o Press releases and media statements 
  • To support teams across the company with communications, including letters to Colleagues and letters to Relatives of Residents. 
  • To work with Colleagues across the organisation to collate and co-ordinate the dissemination of information to the relevant audiences. 
  • To create, edit and proof-read content with a consistent tone of voice and unified message across a variety of communication channels.
  • To continuously evaluate and report on the impact and effectiveness of communication channels. 
  • To establish and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including journalists and politicians.
  • To manage and respond to media enquiries in a timely and accurate way, working confidently with journalists. 
  • To keep key stakeholders informed when dealing with media or political issues that could affect the business' reputation. 

  • Monitor political, media and sector landscapes to identify relevant issues and work with the appropriate stakeholders to address and respond to these. Look at new and innovative methods of engaging and communicating with stakeholders in an effective, timely and meaningful way to achieve the best results and take the HC-One brand to the next level.

                                                                                                                     

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • Solutions-focused self-starter with experience working in a communications role – in-house, agency, freelance or journalism.  
  • Experience of working with senior management, offering guidance and subject matter expertise.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how the media works. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the UK’s political system, and the political systems in the devolved nations.
  • Accomplished communicator, able to write for a variety of audiences and formats. 
  • Demonstrable editing skills and an eye for detail. 
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines, with limited supervision. 
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritise tasks, and deliver work to agreed deadlines. 
  • Ability to take the initiative, be creative, and to come up with original ideas. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media platforms. 

 

This role is commutable from Darlington, Country Durham, Middlesborough
