Civil Design Engineer

Location: Cheshire

Nationwide Recruitment Service (NRS) has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer to work for a growing and established business.  The successful candidate will most likely be a qualified Civil engineer who has experience working with developers, construction businesses, or perhaps large house-building businesses/ PLCs

House building/ Developers/ Construction/ Civil Engineering experience.

Ideally BEng(Hons) in Civil / Structural Engineering (or equivalent), or HNC as a minimum; accompanied by proven post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering

Working knowledge of using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and Causeway Flow software.

Working knowledge of Water UK Design & Construction

Experience with Guidance documents and Local Authority/County Council Highways standards

You will be a proactive, self-motivated individual with the ability as a key member of the team to work in close collaboration with our in-house Land, Planning, Architectural, and Structural Engineering teams. 

Key Responsibilities:            

Acting as Civil Design Engineer, collaborating with the house development/ construction house building design teams to steer the evolving designs.

Undertaking feasibility assessments and reporting on the drainage, highways and external works solutions for new site acquisitions. 

Briefing and commissioning for pre-acquisition topographical surveys, drainage surveys and site investigations, (in conjunction with the in-house structural engineer) 

Undertaking detailed road, sewers (to adoptable standards where necessary), private drainage and external works designs including direct liaison with highway and drainage authorities for all necessary technical approvals.

Undertaking S278 highway improvement designs for technical approval and liaising with external consultants for stage 2 & 3 Safety Audit reviews.  

Undertaking civil designs for foul pumping stations and liaising directly with pump specialists to obtain quotations. mechanical drawings and specifications 

Undertaking stormwater detailed design providing onsite storage/retention solutions using a variety of different SUDS techniques 

Providing tender and construction issue civils drawings to the commercial and construction teams in compliance with the agreed procurement and build programmes.

Undertaking detailed cut/fill analysis and producing earthworks sections and quantities 

Liaising with the in-house solicitor for the preparation of the Bonds and Agreements

The successful candidate should have:

Detailed knowledge of section agreements ie, Section 38, 104, S185 & 278

Experience liaising with solicitors for the preparation of Bonds and Agreements

Experience providing tender and construction issue civils drawings to the commercial and construction teams in compliance with the agreed procurement and build programmes.

A minimum HNC level or ideally BEng (Hons) in Civil / Structural Engineering (or equivalent), accompanied by proven post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering

Working knowledge of using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and Causeway Flow software.

Working knowledge of Water UK Design & Construction

The guidance document and Local Authority/County Council Highways standards

Good knowledge of civil engineering detailing and construction techniques

IT literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

A strong technical ability and commercial awareness

Good organisational and time management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills          

Full UK driving license.
