Product Manager – Roofing Home/ Filed based 1 day pw in Northamptonshire
Experience required of Reinforced Bitumen Membrane and Hot Melt.
Salary: Up to £52,000 + Company Car + Company Benefits
Location: Home Based with 1 day per week working at Head Office in Northamptonshire
About the Role:
As a roofing reinforced bitumen membrane and hot melt product manager in our client’s technical operations department, you will be roofing product manager, technical champion for reinforced bitumen membranes (RBM) and structural hot melt.
You will support the business, your colleagues and clients by communicating with them via email, telephone, and onsite visits to ensure that our quality standards are maintained, and expertise is shared. You will collaborate across the business to ensure that the information about your products is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant, ensuring an installer's perspective is considered.
As part of your responsibilities, you will undertake continuous research and development of products by engaging with suppliers, testing products and accessories, and experimenting with system combinations.
You will review the product set and standardise the installation and inspection standards in an instructional document, induction presentations, and informal training sessions.
Once your standardisation exercise is complete, you will give informal demonstrations to clients and contractors to inspire confidence in your product set and demonstrate your expertise. It's important to note that while you'll collaborate on formal training sessions by ensuring installation instructions are current.
Services team (monitoring/inspections) with project inspections.
Your Product Set:
- Reinforced bitumen membranes (torch applied and self-adhesive).
- 2nd generation structural hot melt.
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as the business champion for technical matters relating to your product set.
- Provide technical support for your product set to clients, contractors and colleagues by email, telephone and on site.
- Collaborate with colleagues in technical and marketing to ensure information relating to your product set is developed and maintained (datasheets, brochures, marketing content, technical resources, specifications).
- Undertake technical assessments and approval of bespoke drawings produced by Design Services.
- Undertake product and system development, including meeting potential and current suppliers and testing products and accessories.
- Produce, deliver, and update induction and refresher training as well as in-house and customer-facing demonstrations/presentations on your product sets.
- Undertake site monitoring for all projects
Qualifications:
- Degree, relevant professional qualification or equivalent NVQ (desirable).
- Member of the Institute of Roofing (desirable).
Pre-Requisite Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience in roof design or construction works Technical Department support
- At least 5 years’ experience with hands-on application
- Experience answering technical questions by email and telephone in a technical support role.
- Experience delivering training or colleague induction sessions.
- Experience delivering presentations (PowerPoint or similar).
- Experience with testing or trialling products and providing feedback.
- Experience reading and digesting complex technical information from several sources, including Government websites, regulatory bodies, and trade organisations.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of RBM membranes (torch-on and self-adhesive) and structural Hot Melts (second generation preferred).
- Able to use a PC, including Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software the organisation uses.
- Some attendance for evening and weekend work may be required.
- This role requires the post holder to hold a full Driving licence.
