Trainer/ Assessor

Our client is a leading facilities management/ maintenance multi-site business / national training provider, seeking a talented and innovative trainer/ assessor.

A roofing assessor who is qualified from NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Level 2 to Level 7 who is an inspirational and motivational trainer and assessor roofing/ roofers qualifications NVQ L2-L7

Job Outline & Purpose

To deliver engaging and effective training sessions to groups of apprentices & students, and development on a one-to-one basis

To assess occupational qualifications & competency in either Waterproofing, hot melt, Slating and Tiling or Sheeting and Cladding disciplines

Ensure excellent apprentice/student attendance, retention, and achievement

To support students to develop their English and maths skills

Key Responsibilities& Tasks:

Training:

To deliver engaging, effective, and innovative group training sessions to apprentices and Study Programme students

To develop, plan, and deliver a programme of training that leads to good outcomes

To deliver inspiring training that meets the criteria and standards for apprenticeship & Study Programme

To manage apprentices and their Individual Learning Programmes, closely monitor and review progress

To ensure that training delivered meets employers' needs

Assessment:

To conduct & use initial assessment effectively and set apprentices appropriate, but challenging, targets & goals

To assess portfolios and provide regular supportive, developmental feedback

To conduct and document meaningful reviews of progress

Conduct timely one-to-one visits with apprentices in the workplace and support and facilitate progress

Attendance/Retention:

Ensure that apprentices' attendance & retention targets are met.

Targets:

To achieve targets to meet contractual obligations.

About You:

Essential:

Full driving licence with access to a car

A minimum of 2 years' experience in roofing

Responsibilities:

Assessing and Evaluating: Conducting detailed assessments of roofing work, both in progress and completed, to ensure it meets the required standards and specifications.

Portfolio Review: Examining candidates’ portfolios of evidence to verify their skills and knowledge in roofing.

On-Site Observation: Visiting construction sites to observe and evaluate roofing professionals’ performance in a real working environment.

Providing Feedback: Offering constructive feedback and advice to roofing professionals based on their performance and portfolio evidence.

Certification: Signing off on qualifications when all assessment criteria are met, confirming that the individual has achieved the NVQ level being assessed.

Training and Development: Planning and delivering vocational training programs and workshops to support the professional development of roofing professionals.

Compliance: Ensuring that all assessments and training comply with industry standards, practices, and health and safety regulations.

For those assessing at higher NVQ levels, such as Levels 6 and 7, the role may also involve assessing construction professionals and managers, focusing on pre-construction and commercial activities.

The job may offer opportunities for development, such as delivering other training programs and training new assessors. It’s also common for assessors to work closely with senior management to ensure the company’s training and assessment strategies are effectively implemented..

In terms of qualifications:

A vocational qualification in roofing at least to the level they are assessing.

An assessor qualification, such as the A1/A2 or V1/V2, or a willingness to work towards it.

Occupational competence in roofing, demonstrating significant experience and expertise in the field.

Level 3 Award in Education (AET) and or Assessor Course (A1) - Essential

VTCT Level 3 Certificate on Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) - Essential
