General Manager - based Cambridgeshire

This is an exciting opportunity to work for Nationwide Recruitment Services FTSE client based out of Cambridgeshire.

This could suit someone who is an operations Manager, Operations Director, General Manager Managing Director, Head of Operations, Production Director or similar

THE JOB

  • The General Manager will be an motivational and inspirational leader, with the gravitas to liaise with any and all key clients and accounts across Europe
  • You will have business and commercial acumen as well as leadership qualities to drive continuous improvement and optimisation of all processes.
  • In your previous role you will have dealt with clients / customers across Europe, and been personal responsible for influencing sales strategies, quality and performance in terms of impact on manufacturing activities.

 

 

General Manager Job Duties

  • The General Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant with a production and manufacturing focus, ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • The General Manager will develop processes to improve, safety, quality and productivity.
  • Responsible for Health and safety of the plant and ensuring everyone is trained and adhering to plant safety procedures
  • Business performance, planning and organising the daily operational running of the plant and ensuring all customer expectations are exceeded.
  • Increase production, asset capacity and flexibility
  • Responsible for minimising costs whilst maintaining continuous improvements and high quality standards
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Lead, coach and develop the management team to achieve maximum performance
  • Enrich and expand the talent pipeline
  • Address employees' issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements
  • Stakeholder Management

 

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Proven work experience as a plant general manager within production/ fmcg/ manufacturing site
  • Proven track record as an Inspirational people manager and team leader.
  • Experience of working within a unionised environment
  • Experience of Continous improvement methodologies
  • Experience of people management, team building and advanced coaching skills
  • Proven ability to motivate people and to assess and develop employee skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and listening ability
  • Strong knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources) in a manufacturing context
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills. Able to manage multiple priorities
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Educated to degree level and ideally with an MBA
